Although Cherry trees (Someiyoshino) is Japanese National Flower, those trees were damaged during 1960’s because of rapid development and the pollution of the city. For preserving and planting trees, Japan Cherry Blossom Association(JCBA) was established in 1964.
The 100 spots of Sakura famous places was selected in 1990 by JCBA.
