Special Preservation Areas of Hisotric Landscape were seleted by The Foundation of Ancient Capitals Preservation in 2007. There are a lot of landscapes excluding the famous towns such as Kyoto, Nara or Kamakura and should be preserved for future. 101 areas were chosen from among 648 candidates. Since it is actually difficult to define spots in an selected area, we list highlights where people might be able to absorb “Real Japan”.
