Information :

Ise Jingu has been worshiped since 2000 years ago. Ise shrine mainly consisted of two shrines (Naiku: Kotai Jingu/ Geku: Toyouke Daijingu) is the center of the Shinto Religion in Japan and the most sacred place. Ise jingu is officially and simply called “Jingu”.

To keep its eternity, the main shrine of Naiku transfers the symbol “Amaterasu Omikami” from the present place to a new place in the area once 20 year. The ceremony is called “Shikinen Sengu” and its main ceremony will be held in 2013.

Enshrined Deity :

Kotai jingu shrine | Naiku (lit: an Inner shrine)

– Amateras oomikami (天照大御神)- The Ancestral god of the Imperial family in Japan

Toyouke Daijingu shrine | Geku (lit: an outer shrine)

– Toyouke oomikami (豊受大御神) – The god of all industries, Agriculture and clothing

Access :

To Naiku (Inner shrine) – 15 min by bus from Ujiyamada Sta.

To geku (Outer shrine) – 5 min on foot from Iseshi Sta.
