Enjo-ji Teien – Garden
Information : Enjo-ji Teien| 円成寺庭園
Enjo-ji Temple was built in 756 and the garden was built in the end of the Heian period (794-1185 or 1192). There is a Buddha statue that is Unkei’s work. The garden in front of the gate (楼門:Omon) is the type of the garden admired from a boat. (舟遊式庭園:Shu yu shiki).
Unkei : He was one of the most greatest sculptors of Buddhist image? in Japan.? His work “The wooden statue of muscular guardians of the Buddha” can be seen at Todaiji South Gate in Nara park.
