Nanzen-ji Konchi-in Teien – Garden

Information : Nanzen-ji Konchi-in Teien | 南禅寺金地院庭園

Konchi-in was made by Enshu Kobori in early stages of the Edo period for general Iyemitsu Tokugawa.This garden is called “the crane and tortoise’s garden (鶴亀の庭).”? In the garden of the dry landscape garden style, trees to imitate turtle’s shell and crane’s shape can be seen.

Enshu Kobori: He was a first-term feudal lord in the? early stage of Edo period, but has been very famous as a master of tea ceremony, an architect and a landscape gardener.
